LOWELL (CBS) – An alligator was found in the Merrimack Canal late Saturday night and, so far, no one has claimed it.
Police told the Lowell Sun they received several calls about the 2-foot-long gator and initially thought it was a prank.
The Animal Control Officer was called in and he caught the alligator with a net and put it in a cage.
It was taken to Rainforest Reptiles, an exotic-animals expert in Beverly, where it spent the night.
Where it came from is still a mystery.
