BOSTON (CBS) – Josh Beckett seems happy to be out of Boston.
Beckett, who was traded from the Red Sox to the Los Angeles Dodgers in Saturday’s mega deal, told reporters late Saturday night in L.A. that he’s glad it happened.
“It was time for me to move on and start a new chapter,” he said, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Just because he’s been traded, Beckett said don’t expect him to change, even with all the controversy that followed him in Boston.
“No, I’m going to try to be the same guy that I’ve always been,” he said.
“I think that’s never changed. You go and try to do your job and that’s what I do.”
The paper noted that Beckett “grew testy when asked about his reputation.”
Beckett is scheduled to make his first start for the Dodgers Monday in Colorado.
