NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (AP) — Police are seeking a father and son after several large air conditioner units were stolen from North Smithfield businesses.
Police say arrest warrants have been issued for 52-year-old Larry Bates and 29-year-old Larry Bates Jr. on felony larceny charges. A third man, 23-year-old Christopher Fisher of Woonsocket, was arrested Thursday morning in connection with the thefts.
Authorities say eight businesses reported that their cooling units and an icemaker were stolen overnight Monday. Police say the stolen property is worth more than $50,000.
Police say the father and son could be armed with a gun. They may be driving a white 1998 Dodge vehicle.
Police say the men wanted the units for the copper inside.
