BOSTON (CBS) – American Licorice Company, the makers of Red Vines licorice, has issued a voluntary recall of all 16 ounce bags of black licorice twists labeled with a “best before” date of February 4th, 2013.
The bags were found to have high levels of lead that could potentially be dangerous for consumers.
The company says customers should return the candy to the store they purchased it from in order to receive a full refund.
The company has also separated all of its potentially contaminated stock so that the product will not continue to be sold in stores.
More details about the recall can be found at American Licorice Company’s website.
