BOSTON (CBS) – Red Sox pitching prospect Brian Johnson was injured on Saturday when he was hit in the face with line drive Saturday during a Lowell Spinners game at Fenway Park.
Johnson, the team’s 2012 first round pick had to be carted off field on a stretcher.
The game was part of the annual Futures at Fenway day. Johnson was conscious when he left the field and was able to wave to crowd as he was carted off.
According to the Red Sox, Johnson suffered multiple oribtal bone fractures on the left side of face. He did not show any signs of a concussion.
