WALTHAM (CBS) – A bird is being blamed for knocking out power to about 1500 people in Waltham on Saturday.
NStar says the bird came in contact with two separate power lines on Russell Street, causing a 13,000 volt power surge.
WBZ NewsRadio 1030′s Mark Katic reports
That set off an explosion that took down the power line and sent another surge that took down a second line on Charles Street.
NStar had crews at both sides fixing the problem, which stretched from Charles Street to Moody and along Prospect.
The bird did not survive.
