Boston Police: Murders Of Three Women In Dorchester Were Gang-Related

BOSTON (CBS) - Boston police announced Thursday that they believe the murders of three women in Dorchester Sunday night are gang related, and that one of the women shot was specifically targeted.

"One of them was involved with gangs. But no one deserves to be shot like this," Police Commissioner Ed Davis said on Thursday. "These are innocent victims. Even the woman that was targeted shouldn't be viewed as anything but a victim."

Police are not saying which of the victims was targeted. They do say they've been flooded with tips about the crime.

Marie Philip of Milton, Kristen Lartey of Hyde Park and Sharrice Perkins of Dorchester, all 22 years old, were shot as they sat in a car on Harlem Street in Dorchester Sunday night.

A fourth woman who was with them was also shot. She's recovering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg.
