The Needham native was the guest of honor at a “welcome home” celebration at Brestyan’s Gym, where she’s trained six days a week for years on her way to becoming captain of the U.S. Olympic Gymnastics team.
Several hundred fans lined the streets around the facility as she arrived to cheers in the front seat of a Burlington police cruiser.
A tent was set up outside, so Raisman could talk to reporters, show off the two gold medals and one bronze she won at the London Games, and sign autographs.
She said Thursday’s event left her “speechless.”

The carnival-like atmosphere also included balloons, t-shirts, popcorn and ponies across the street.
Raisman will be home for about a week before joining her ‘Fierce Five’ teammates on a nationwide tour.
