BELMONT (CBS) – Passengers were evacuated from a commuter train near Belmont Center station Tuesday morning after it derailed.
Train 455 on the Fitchburg line was heading outbound from North Station when something went wrong just before 8:30 a.m.
MBCR spokesman Scott Farmelant told WBZ-TV a set of wheels on the first coach car behind the locomotive slipped off the rails in Belmont.
There were approximately 30 people on board. No one was hurt.
MBTA buses picked up the stranded passengers.
It’s not clear yet what caused the derailment.
