FALMOUTH (CBS) – More than 12,000 runners took off this morning from Woods Hole for the 40th running of the New Balance Falmouth Road Race.

Olympians Frank Shorter, Joan Benoit Samuelson, Rod Dixon, Bill Rodgers, Craig Blanchette, and Catherine Ndereba all participated in the seven-mile run.

South Africa’s Krige Schabort and North Carolina’s Jill Moore won the wheelchair divisions.

Kenyans Stanley Biwott and Margaret Wangari won the men and women’s running divisions.
