BOSTON (CBS) — Scott Podsednik left the Red Sox via trade on July 31, but his absence didn’t last long.
The veteran outfielder re-signed with the Red Sox this week after the Diamondbacks granted him free agency after he chose to not accept a minor league assignment.
WBZ-TV’s Dan Roche reports the Red Sox will send outfielder Ryan Kalish down to Triple-A Pawtucket to make room on the roster.
Podsednik, 36, hit .387 in his 19 games with the Red Sox this season. He suffered a groin injury in Chicago in mid-June though and needed a trip to the disabled list.
He was traded along with Matt Albers at the deadline in exchange for left-handed reliever Craig Breslow.
