CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire’s Attorney General is warning potential campaign donors to be wary of telephone calls soliciting funds.

Attorney General Michael Delaney says crooks have been posing as representatives of legitimate campaigns when they seek campaign donations by phone.

Delaney urges those who want to donate to do so through a campaign’s official website or by calling the campaign’s phone lines. He said those paying by credit card should be particularly concerned that they are dealing with the candidate’s campaign headquarters and not an impostor.

Anyone with concerns about whether a donation reached its intended recipient should call the campaign’s headquarters.

Those who believe their contributions were hijacked should call the Attorney General’s Election Hotline at 1-866-VOTER03.
