BOSTON (CBS) – The State Police crackdown on Route 24 and I-195 is paying off.
State Police say they made 10 arrests for drunk driving on those roads over the weekend including a driver going the wrong way on I-195 in Fairhaven. Other arrests included a driver who struck a cruiser on a detail in Fall River, and a driver who struck another vehicle on Route 24 and tried to flee.
Troopers wrote 262 motor vehicle citations and ticketed 47 truck drivers for speeding.
State Police will step up patrols through September to make the road safer after a number of bad crashes.
