Bradley Jay: 'Vote Yes For Medical Marijuana.'

Police in Walpole have recently expressed fear that a state ballot question to legalize medical marijuana could throw a wrench in their battle against substance abuse. Police Chief Richard Stillman said, "The Mass. Chiefs will try to fight it, but we have no money to advertise. We'll do what we can, but I'm quite confident people will be fooled again," he said. "There is no such thing as medical marijuana. It's marijuana used to get high, and that's all there is too it."

Oh… My… God….

Medical marijuana is medicine. If you are going to prevent patients from having ready access to this medicine, then you had better remove other medicines from the pharmacy as well. Why do officials single out marijuana? It seems illogical. Especially since many of the other legal prescription drugs have side effects far worse than marijuana.

Of course it's a problem when any unauthorized person gets their hands on medicine not prescribed to them, but you can't ban everything because it may be used inappropriately. If that were the case, we would have to ban cars, guns, booze, prescription painkillers and even all sharp objects.

I'm flabbergasted that an undying, unfounded, puritanical fear of marijuana persists when it's one of the safest medications in the planet .

Medical marijuana should be legalized completely and everywhere. It's a travesty that an adult can buy a potentially lethal half-gallon of vodka, yet far safer marijuana is not legal on a nation-wide basis.

I don't like smoking pot, but the fact that there is any penalty at all for marijuana is ludicrous and counter-productive.

I urge you to vote for the legalization of medical marijuana in the upcoming election, and I implore lawmakers to come out of the dark-ages and legalize the plant completely.
