Driver Clocked At 135 MPH On Rhode Island Highway

TIVERTON, RI (CBS) - A Rhode Island man is facing several charges after an officer clocked him driving at 135 miles per hour.

Tiverton police say the officer started chasing 27-year-old Raul Barbosa after Barbosa sped through a construction zone on Route 24 Northbound Friday night.

During the chase, police say Barbosa's 2003 BMW sped up to 135 mph.

The posted speed limit on that stretch of road is 55 mph.

The car eventually pulled over just before the Rhode Island/Massachusetts state line.

Barbosa was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license and reckless driving. He was also cited for speeding, lane violations, and display of plates.
