Still With Red Sox, Shoppach Behind Plate For Beckett

BOSTON (CBS) - The trade deadline came and went, and Kelly Shoppach remained with the Boston Red Sox.

In fact, the catcher will be behind the plate as the battery mate of Josh Beckett, who was mentioned in plenty of trade rumors of his own over the last four days.

But neither were dealt, as the Red Sox pulled off a single trade that netted them lefty reliever Craig Breslow from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for right-hander Matt Albers and outfielder Scott Podsednik.

Fellow catcher Jarrod Saltalmacchia is also in the lineup, batting sixth and serving as the team's designated hitter.

Here is the full lineup for Boston against Detroit's ace, Justin Verlander:

1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF

2. Carl Crawford, LF

3. Dustin Pedroia, 2B

4. Adrian Gonzalez, 1B

5. Cody Ross, RF

6. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, DH

7. Will Middlebrooks, 3B

8. Kelly Shoppach, C

9. Pedro Ciriaco, SS

This will be the third time the Red Sox have faced Verlander this season, with the two teams splitting the first two outings. Verlander has allowed five earned runs over 14 innings pitched against Boston this season, holding Sox batters to a .218 batting average.

The Sox are going for their fourth straight win Tuesday night, a feat they have accomplished just three times this season.
