CANTON (CBS) – The Massachusetts Department of Public Health announced that Eastern Equine Encephalitis has been found in mosquitoes in Canton.
The town’s risk level has been raised to “high” and ground spraying will be intensified.
The mosquitoes with EEE were collected July 20. Risk levels in neighboring towns of Norwood, Westwood, Milton and Randolph have been raised from “low” to “moderate.” Dedham, Sharon and Stoughton, which also border Canton, will remain at “moderate.”
Aerial spraying took place across 21 communities in Southeastern Massachusetts last weekend.
There have been no human cases of West Nile Virus or EEE so far this year.
