CBSSports Predicts Patriots To Go 16-0, Lose In Super Bowl
BOSTON (CBS) -- What the New England Patriots did in the 2007 NFL season -- going 16-0 before surprisingly losing in the Super Bowl -- was a historic stretch that likely won't ever be seen again. Well, except maybe for this year.
CBSSports.com's Pete Prisco tackled the assignment of predicting every single game of the 2012 NFL season, and his results, unintentionally, had the Patriots finishing the regular season 16-0. In Prisco's predictions, the Patriots beat the Texans and Bengals in the playoffs before losing to the Packers, 37-31, in the Super Bowl.
"As you rip the idea of an undefeated season, I dare you do find a loss on the New England Patriots' schedule as of right now," Prisco wrote. "Pick one. I couldn't. I have the Patriots rolling to a second undefeated regular season in the past five years."
Of course, even Prisco admitted the odds of his predictions actually coming true are extraordinarily low.
"Of course," he wrote, "it's probably not going to happen. But that's what made this so much fun to do."
Prisco's predictions called for a weak AFC East overall, with the Jets finishing at 9-7 and the Bills and Dolphins each finishing 7-9.
