BU Buys 3 Streets Near Fenway, Will Remove 100+ Parking Spaces Next Week

Hinsdale, Cummington, and Blanford Streets will be closed to traffic in a week and the parking meters will be taken out to make way for a new pedestrian mall.

The parking spaces were conveniently near Kenmore Square and Fenway Park, but now drivers will have to look elsewhere.

"I think it will be inconvenient for the public... for the students I don't think they will care too much. There's usually not that many people here, especially during the academic school year," said a BU student. "But the Red Sox games, those are going to be trouble."

The Red Sox have 28 games left at Fenway Park, starting next Monday against the Tigers.

"It probably won't be too bad during the summer, but it will be more noticeable in the fall when all the spaces on Bay State Road and Comm. Ave are taken too," said another BU student. "It'll be 100 spaces that people can't have."
