'Shark' Sighting Closes 3 Nantucket Beaches, Turns Out To Be Sunfish
NANTUCKET (CBS) - A reported shark sighting that cleared three beaches in Nantucket on Wednesday was not a shark after all.
Someone spotted the fish's dorsal fin in the waters off Fisherman's Beach.
The harbormaster closed the beaches to swimming while they checked out the report.
Despite its appearance on the surface, the dorsal fin belonged to an animal known as a sunfish.
The fish is not harmful to people.
