NORTH ANDOVER (CBS) – An Iraq War veteran, who waited five years to celebrate his wedding, went to jail after the reception for allegedly assaulting three men.

Police say 32-year-old Philip Brooks had walked into the bar downstairs from his reception at the VFW in North Andover and got into an argument with some of the veterans there.

Brooks is said to have accused some of the older veterans of not appreciating the service of Iraq War vets.

Police say an altercation ensued and Brooks slammed a 79-year-old man’s head against the bar.

He’s charged with two counts of assault and battery and one count of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a person over 65.

The victims had cuts and bruises but none went to the hospital.
