Paralyzed Norwood Teen Heads To Bermuda For Family Vacation

NORWOOD (CBS) – More than two-and-a-half years after a former Norwood High School hockey player was paralyzed playing hockey, he's getting the chance to go on vacation.

Matt Brown and his family boarded a cruise ship out of Boston and headed to Bermuda Friday.

Five other families, friends who have been helping the Browns, are joining them on the trip, which Matt expects to be unforgettable.

"This is going to be something I need but they need even more; our first vacation as a family in three years. And we've got some of the best people to enjoy it with," Brown said.

Brown's dad says is especially grateful for the opportunity.

"When he was injured, his life changed. But it didn't end. And family vacations, going off to college; a lot of families do it, so it's our turn now. And we're really excited about it.

Massport and Norwegian cruise lines gave the group some special attention, including a visit from the ship's captain.

Matt says he can't wait to begin his freshman year at Stonehill College next month.
