BOSTON (CBS) – One last thing: Burlington High School’s 2012 varsity ice hockey team recently played a game they will never forget.
On June 23, the team competed against the 2009 team, all for a great cause.
They played Marty’s Challenge – a game set up to help 3-year-old Marty Wells, a local boy fighting leukemia.
Marty dropped the first puck, and the game was on.
Nearly 300 people came out to see the game. Between donations and raffles, the players helped raise about $4,500.
The 2012 team won the game, 5-3. But the real winners were the Wells family and the community of Burlington.
