Adolfo tries to pitch better than Daniel Bard in one of the worst outings he’s had down in Pawtucket. (Photo by: Justin Opiechowski)
Daniel Bard had one rough night for Pawtucket last Thursday, hitting two of the four batters he faced, throwing a pair of wild pitches and allowing three runs without recording an out. He threw just eight of his 20 pitches for strikes.
Bard also threw a pitch so high it tipped off catcher Ryan Lavarnway’s mitt and caught the home plate umpire.
With that in mind, Toucher & Rich wanted to see if Adolfo could do a better job than Bard. And so, “Lard vs Bard” was born.
T&R set up a strike zone and had Jon Wallach step to the plate to see how many strikes Adolfo could throw in 20 pitches.
Adolfo threw his first pitch down the middle, but struggled to find the zone after that. He ended strong though, finishing 5-for-20, but sent Wallach diving out of the way twice.

Adolfo really didn’t have the power to reach from major league distance so the guys had him move closer… and then closer.
