One Last Thing: Sandwich Sports Complex Helped By Family Of Fallen Serviceman

SANDWICH (CBS) - For years the Sandwich high school sporting facilities have been hurting.

The track was condemned and the football field was deemed unplayable.

But, thanks to the family of a Navy captain things are changing.

Cpt. Gerald Deconto was killed on September 11, 2001 after the attack on the Pentagon.

Deconto loved the town of Sandwich and to play soccer. So his family decided to help this town and their sporting complex out.

In Deconto's memory his family has donated $250,000 for the complex. That money, along additional funds being raised toward the project, is giving new life to these facilities.

There is still more work that needs to be done, but the complex has come a long way. And it's all in the name of a man who gave his life serving others.
