BOSTON (CBS) – The Boston Bruins have signed center Christian Hanson, and although he probably won’t be making the team next season, he will surely liven up the locker room in training camp.
Hanson is the son of Dave Hanson, one of the three famous Hanson Brothers from the hockey movie “Slap Shot.”
The B’s reached a one-year, two-way deal with Hanson, worth $600,000 at the NHL level and $105,000 at the AHL level.
The 26-year-old played the 2011-12 season with the Hershey Bears, the Washington Capital’s AHL affiliate, netting 10 goals and 11 assists in 52 games.
The 6-foot-4, 228-pounder out of Notre Dame has 42 NHL games under his belt, tallying three goals and six assists.
Despite his father’s role in the 1977 film, Hanson does not throw down the gloves all that often, recording just 22 penalty minutes in his time in the NHL.
In addition to his role in “Slap Shot,” Dave Hanson played ten seasons in the NHL.
