I-Team: Gov. Patrick Signs Law To Close Loophole In Drunk Driving Law
BOSTON (CBS) - Gov. Deval Patrick signed legislation Sunday closing a loophole in the state's drunk driving law exposed by the I-Team.
The new law treats refusing a breathalyzer as a conviction if a driver receives a ruling of 'continuance without a finding' in court.
In the past, courts couldn't use a driver's refusal to take the test in making decisions about their license.
That helped some drunk drivers avoid more serious punishment.
