BOSTON (CBS) – The Red Sox will honor former team captain Jason Varitek in late July at Fenway Park.

The Red Sox will hold “Thanks, Tek Day” at Fenway Park on July 21.

A pre-game ceremony will be held at around 6:30 p.m. The Sox are set to take on the Toronto Blue Jays at 7:10 p.m.

Varitek, 40, anchored Red Sox teams that won the World Series in 2004 and 2007.

He retired back in March, holding the club record for catching 1,488 games over his 15-year career in Boston.

The 3-time All-Star finished his career with a .256 average, 193 home runs and 757 RBI. He won a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger Award in 2005.
