WORCESTER (CBS) – A man was shot to death while watching fireworks in Worcester Tuesday night.

He was dead when officers arrived. The gunman ran off.

Police said there are conflicting reports about his description and how many shots were fired.

Witnesses told the Telegram and Gazette that many people initially mistook the gunshots for fireworks.

But then they started running once they realized what happened.

Among the witnesses were distraught relatives and several children.

There have been no arrests and there's no word yet on a motive.

Kapulka was arrested in a drug and weapons raid back in January 2008 in Worcester, according to the paper.

This is the seventh murder in Worcester this year.
