"One of our former employees was up here to visit his father's grave.  As he was driving down the road he saw the tarantula walking across the road." said Dave Gustavsen of the Department of Public Works.

Gustavsen told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 a couple of co-workers grabbed a vase from the DPW garage and coaxed the tarantula into it.

"We got a longer stick and we just kinda nudged it in," he said.

They took the vase to the police station. The tarantula is now in a terrarium at the home of the local animal control officer.

They're still not sure where it came from, but if you'd like to adopt it, contact the Marblehead Animal Shelter at (781) 631-8664.
