The Lightning acquired the rights to Pouliot from the Bruins during the NHL Draft for Michel Ouellet and a fifth round pick.
The Bruins selected center Seth Griffith with the fifth round pick they acquired from the Lightning.
Last year in his only season in Boston, the 25-year-old Pouliot finished with 16 goals and 16 assists in 74 games.
A former No. 4 overall pick in 2005, Pouliot played the first four years of his career with the Minnesota Wild and then played two more with the Montreal Canadiens.
