BOSTON (CBS) – Boston Red Sox outfielder Darnelle McDonald will be designated for assignment, sources confirmed to WBZ-TV Sports’ Dan Roche.
The roster move will be made to make room for Josh Beckett, who will be activated from the disabled list.
McDonald was batting .214 with 2 homeruns and 17 strikeouts in 38 games.
Beckett is 4-7 with a 4.14 ERA.
