Lawyer Denies Abuse Allegations Against Mihos

BARNSTABLE (AP) — A clerk magistrate has heard testimony on a misdemeanor domestic assault complaint against former gubernatorial candidate and convenience store magnate Christy Mihos.

Mihos' attorney, Edward Ryan, denied after Wednesday's closed-door hearing that Mihos has abused his wife or spent millions on strippers and prostitutes, as she alleges. Ryan said of hearing the claims are "divorce planning in the extreme." Christy Mihos didn't attend. There was no immediate ruling.

Andrea Mihos said Wednesday her allegations aren't related to their divorce. Her attorney said he's confident she'll be "well-served" by the court.

Yarmouth police filed the complaint after Andrea Mihos said in February her husband threatened her during an argument at their condominium in Florida and pushed her last year at their West Yarmouth home. She didn't pursue charges in Florida.
