BOSTON (CBS) – As the city of Boston awaits Kevin Garnett’s decision for next season, Celtics head coach Doc Rivers has a hunch that the 17-year-veteran will return.
“I don’t know if Kevin is coming back but let’s just say yes. Positive thinking,” Rivers said at the Coffee with Coaches Breakfast Tuesday morning at Fenway Park.
“I think he will,” Rivers added. “I have no basis for that; I just think that he will.”

Garnett has made no announcement of his intentions, but with NBA Free Agency beginning July 1 the basketball world is expecting one soon. Garnett’s decision will greatly affect how Boston operates this postseason; taking a stab at another title run if KG returns or plunging into a rebuilding phase if he opts to retire or, brace yourself, go elsewhere.

Garnett has said he would only play for Rivers, so it appears on the surface that fans shouldn’t have to worry about seeing KG wearing anything but green next season.
