MBTA Bus Crashes Into Health Center In Roxbury

BOSTON (CBS) – An MBTA bus crashed into a building Monday night in Roxbury.

According to the MBTA, the bus struck the Whittier Street Health Center after it was cut off by another vehicle driven by an Amesbury man.

The bus was turning right from Tremont Street onto Ruggles Street when police said it was cut off. It swerved to avoid the vehicle in the heavy rain and crashed into the building.

Sprinklers went off when the bus hit the building, flooding the first floor and damaging an elevator.

“These damages, while disappointing to us, can be rectified,” said Frederica Williams, the President and CEO at Whittier.

Fifteen people aboard the bus complained of pain. Two were taken to to the hospital.

The crash is under investigation.

There was no serious structural damage to the building.
