Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz Placed On Disabled List

BOSTON (CBS) - Red Sox starting pitcher Clay Buchholz was placed on the disabled list Sunday with a gastrointestinal issue.

According to the Boston Herald's Michael Silverman, Buccholz is in the hospital with the illness.

In his place, the Red Sox called up Aaron Cook, who was slated to start on Sunday.

Buchholz had a horrible start to the season, but has straightened things out over the last month.

Overall, he is 8-2 with a 5.53 ERA over 14 starts.

Cook, meanwhile, hasn't pitched since May 5, when he allowed six earned runs over 2.2 innings against the Orioles. He received a deep cut on his knee after getting spiked on a play at home plate during that game and was later placed on the disabled list.
