Bruins Release 2012-13 Schedule

BOSTON (CBS) -- With record-setting temperatures in Boston today, the NHL and the Bruins have supplied Bostonians with a reason to stay cool, as the 2012-13 schedule was officially announced on Thursday.

The Bruins will open their season with a three-game road trip, beginning on Oct. 11, to Philadelphia, New Jersey and Montreal.

The B's home opener will be Oct. 18 against the rival Canadiens. That matchup will be the first in a five-game home stand that will run through the end of the season's first month.

On Nov. 23, the day after Thanksgiving, the Bruins will host the New York Rangers at 1 p.m. Like last year, the B's will be playing on New Year's Eve, this time in Calgary at 9 p.m.

The defending Stanley Cup-champion Los Angeles Kings will visit Boston on Dec. 17.

The B's lone matchup with Vancouver will take place in British Columbia on Dec. 29.

The schedule also features three home-and-home series: with Montreal on Oct. 16 and Oct. 18, Ottawa on Jan. 5 and Jan. 8 and Philadelphia on March 30 and 31.
