Taunton High School Teacher Accused Of Statutory Rape, Sexting Students

TAUNTON (CBS) - A Taunton High School teacher was held on $100,000 bail Wednesday, accused of sexting three underage girls and having sex with one of them.

Patrick Doyle, 33, of Seekonk was arrested on Tuesday and charged with aggravated statutory rape. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on Wednesday in Taunton District Court.

Prosecutors said the situation began when Doyle sent lewd pictures of himself to three different teenagers.

"Doyle was sexting to three girls, and then zeroed in on one," said prosecutor Alex Grimes.

Prosecutors say Doyle brought that 14-year-old girl to his home in Seekonk, and had sex with her on at least three occasions.

Doyle's defense attorney said in court that the accuser is a "troubled youth" and has problems with the truth.

Judge Fran Marini set bail at $100,000 cash saying he was outraged by Doyle's alleged conduct.

"He's a teacher, and has betrayed his students, and the public trust. This is every parent's worst nightmare," Judge Marini said in court.

Taunton police are looking to see if there are any other victims.

Doyle has been a social studies teacher at Taunton High School since 2006. He was placed on leave by the school earlier this month when the allegations first surfaced.

Family members, including his brother, a Rhode Island State Trooper showed up at court to support him on Wednesday.

"We're all in shock and we're going to support him 100%," Doyle's stepfather told WBZ-TV.
