Cody Ross Returns To Red Sox Lineup

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Red Sox are due to get a steady stream of healthy players back into the lineup over the next month or so, and that process will begin on Tuesday night.

Outfielder Cody Ross, out of action since May 18 after fouling a ball off his foot, will return to the Boston lineup on Monday night against the Marlins at Fenway Park.

Ross was hitting .271 with eight homers, 28 RBIs and an .833 OPS before hitting the disabled list. Initially, reports said Ross could be out for months, but follow-up tests showed the injury was not as bad as originally believed.

Scott Podsednik, who played surprisingly well during Ross' absence, was placed on the disabled list on Tuesday to make room on the roster for Ross.

Ross' return is the first of three expected to come to the outfield this summer. Jacoby Ellsbury and Carl Crawford are still working their way back from their injuries but could return in July.

The complete lineup for the opener of the nine-game homestand is below.

1. Mike Aviles, SS
2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
3. Adrian Gonzalez, RF
4. David Ortiz, DH
5. Kevin Youkilis, 1B
6. Will Middlebrooks, 3B
7. Cody Ross, LF
8. Ryan Kalish, CF
9. Kelly Shoppach, C
