Gronkowski Happy With Contract, Says Ankle Is 'Great'

BOSTON (CBS)  - Rob Gronkowski is fresh off becoming the richest tight end in the history of the NFL.

So what has he bought since inking the eight-year, $55 million deal? Nothing.

Instead, No. 87 is happy he'll be wearing #87 for the New England Patriots for the foreseeable future.

"I just love it here," Gronkowski said from the Joe Andruzzi and Friends Golf Tournament on Monday. "It felt like both sides were happy and both sides got it done. It's awesome to be here for that long."

Gronkowski was one of several current and former Patriots helping Andruzzi at his event, all to raise money for families dealing with cancer. Although Gronk never played with the former New England offensive lineman, he is more than willing to lend a helping hand for a great cause.

"I never played with him, but he is a teammate because he's helped us out in the weight room and the offseason program conditioning and all of that. We're basically friends now," Gronkowski said of Andruzzi. "I see him all the time around the stadium. I'm always supporting him with a cause like this."

Gronkowski said his left ankle is feeling "great," although that is all he would say on the matter. As for his hunger heading into next season, that never has to be questioned.

"I'm always hungry no matter what," he said. "I'm a competitor and every time I step on the field I want to compete. I want to take every win, take every win one week at a time, make sure we get that victory."
