State Begins Swapping Fast Lane For E-Z Pass Signs
BOSTON (CBS) – Massachusetts' change from Fast Lane to E-ZPass gets underway this weekend. Crews will be working overnights to change out the signs on the Massachusetts Turnpike, the Tobin Bridge and the airport tunnels.
Massachusetts is currently the only state with Fash Lane, while E-ZPass is used in 13 other states.
The state is hoping the switch will make it less confusing for out-of-state drivers. The ultimate goal is to improve traffic flow.
If you have Fast Lane, you won't have to do anything to your account.
The switch will cost $1.2 million, but the state Department of Transportation said most of that will come from the federal government
