Red Sox To Place Josh Beckett On DL With Shoulder Inflammation
BOSTON (CBS) – The Red Sox announced Saturday they would be placing starting pitcher Josh Beckett on the Disabled List.
Beckett had already been scratched from his start, which was scheduled for Sunday night in Chicago.
Beckett is suffering from shoulder inflammation. Of course, Beckett came under fire earlier in the season after he was spotted on the golf course just days before missing a scheduled start related to a shoulder injury.
Beckett is 4-7 on the season with a 4.14 ERA in 12 starts. However, in his last six starts, he posted a 2.68 ERA and .962 WHIP with 30 strikeouts and over 43 2/3 innings.
Beckett threw 97 pitches in his last start in Miami, and the Sox plan to send him for further testing.
