Boston Dad Asks President Obama To Help Bring Kids Back From Egypt

BOSTON (CBS) - A local father is appealing to the highest office possible this Father's Day, for help getting his sons back.

Colin Bower has been separated from his two sons, Noor and Ramsay, now 9 and 11, since their mother allegedly smuggled them out of the country three years ago. Bower's ex-wife, Mirvat el Nady, is wanted by the FBI and Interpol. Bower says she used fake passports to take the boys to her native Egypt after U.S. courts deemed her unfit for custody.

This week, John Kerry passed a Senate resolution to bring the boys home to Boston. Now Bower is asking for the President's help. He points to students Obama helped bring back after they were detained in Egypt last fall, including Sam Lahood, son of Obama's Transportation Secretary. "He's demonstrated the capability of getting his cabinet secretary's son out of Egypt on short notice after being arrested, and I just want my boys home and clearly the President can do it."

Bower says the timing is fitting to go to the country's top father on Father's Day, which he himself plans to spend in isolation. "It's just very hard emotionally to do things we used to do together without conjuring up memories... I've tried to remain distracted, mostly alone," says the Boston father.

He has made numerous trips to Egypt to get his sons, with no success. He plans to return with Senator Kerry this summer.
