Boston Tea Party Chest Returned To Waterfront

BOSTON (CBS) – A symbol of the American Revolution has returned to Boston's waterfront.

One of the two known tea chests still in existence from the Boston Tea Party is back to where it was tossed. The so-called 'Robinson Half Chest' is now on display at the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum.

The tea chest washed ashore in Dorchester Heights after the party, was discovered by John Robinson, and held by his family.

Museum executive director Shawn Ford says the chest was forensically tested and is "the real deal."

When the museum opens later this month, Mayor Menino hopes visitors will see it as a symbol of freedom.
