Report: Spurs Interested In Kevin Garnett

BOSTON (CBS) -  The rumors have already begun in what should be a very interesting off-season for the Boston Celtics.

According to the San Antonio Express-News, the Spurs are one of the many teams  interested in Celtics' free agent Kevin Garnett.

The 36-year-old Garnett averaged 15.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game during the regular season for Boston, switching over to the center position in the middle of the year. In the playoffs, Garnett increased his numbers in both categories, averaging 19.2 points and 10.3 rebounds.

Garnett made over $21 million in his fifth season in Boston.

While other teams will make runs for Garnett, the Celtics would love to have him back. Paul Pierce sang Garnett's praises after Boston's Game 7 loss to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals, as KG changed the defensive culture of the team upon his arrival in 2008. Garnett won defensive player of the year that season, leading the Celtics to the NBA title.

Many feel that Garnett will return to the Celtics, who will try to get him at a heavily discounted price.

"I think they'll offer him a two-year deal, about $10 million. I don't think it will be a max contract," CSNNE's Gary Tanguay told 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich Monday morning, adding he doesn't see Garnett going to places like the Spurs, Lakers or Nets. "I just don't see it. It's all because of Doc Rivers; he is just so enamored by Doc."

There is also a chance that Garnett calls it quits, and retires once all the dust settles from this postseason.
