Downed Wire Shuts Down MBTA Green Line's D-Branch In Newton
NEWTON (CBS) - Part of the MBTA Green Line's D-Branch came to a halt Friday evening after a power line came down on the tracks near Newton Centre Station.
Power had to be shut off so workers could repair the wire.
MBTA Police were helping evacuate passengers from a trolley that was forced to stop just west of Newton Centre station.
Shuttle service was running between Reservoir and Riverside Stations.
Service resumed around 10:45p.m. Friday night.
Just two days earlier, downed power lines forced passengers off the train on the Blue Line outside Revere Station at rush hour.
