Possible Microburst Causes Significant Tree Damage In Bolton

BOLTON (CBS) - A nasty thunderstorm rolled through Bolton just before 10 p.m. Tuesday night with lightning that rattled homes and brief, but very strong winds that took down trees.

A few neighborhoods near Bolton Orchards, in the northwest corner of town, were hardest hit.

A few dozen trees came down along with many more branches, which blocked driveways but apparently did not hit any homes.

Some of the trees were uprooted at the base, while others snapped off halfway up. Cable, internet and hardline phone service was knocked out, but the power stayed on.

No injuries have been reported.

On Wednesday morning, tree crews were swarming the area of Fox Run Road and Kettlehole Road near Nashoba Regional High School.

All of the trees were downed from west to east, leading neighbors and police to surmise that it might have been straight line thunderstorm winds, or maybe even a microburst.
