Right Place, Right Time: State Police Stop Suspected Gunman In Worcester

WORCESTER (CBS) - A couple of State Troopers who were in the right place at the right time on Thursday morning may have saved a man's life.

Around 2 a.m., Troopers Yuri Bukhenik and Eric French happened to be driving down Southbridge Street in Worcester when they witnessed a confrontation in a crowd in front of Hurricane Betty's bar.

The Troopers watched a man take off running and another man allegedly pull out a gun and take aim at him.

The troopers stopped their cruiser and drew their own weapons, ordering the man with the gun to stop. No shots were fired.

The suspect, 32-year-old James Evans of Worcester was arrested. He faces gun, drug, and assault charges.

Evans has prior convictions for armed home invasion, armed robbery and armed assault with intent to murder.
