Mass. Bound: Man Riding Cross-Country To Raise Money For MS

BOSTON (CBS) - Dave Nowlan is doing the unthinkable; a 3,350 mile bike ride from Encinitas, California to Cape Cod.

The 57 year-old is riding across the country to raise money and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis, a disease that his wife Claire and daughter Julia both suffer from.

His expedition began on April 22 and he's expected to arrive on the Cape on May 28.

Nowlan's trip almost never happened.  Two years ago, he suffered a serious back injury, but luckily has been recovering and training for this ride ever since. By completing 20-50 mile bike rides each day, he set himself up perfectly for this cross country trek.

Nowlan has been blogging and posting pictures throughout the journey. His wife Claire is also making the journey, driving right by his side in the support vehicle.

Nowlan is still looking for sponsors and donations.
