EVERETT (CBS) – A 71-year-old crossing guard has died after being hit by an MWRA vehicle on Wednesday morning.
Marie Stewart, of Everett, was transported to Mass. General Hospital with serious injuries. She was pronounced dead Wednesday night.
Stewart was working at the corner of Ferry and Cherry Streets when the accident occurred.
Sixty-seven-year-old John Mitchell of Dorchester was driving the white MWRA GMC pickup truck that hit the victim. Police said he was taken to the Whidden Memorial Hospital for observation.
The accident is under investigation.
